Selfie . . . Monday? In Color?

REMEMBER THIS PICTURE? I COLORED IT.

After a bit of a hiatus, we are back and better than ever! And in color!

I am hardcore procrastinating an essay right now. Rather than melt my brain with words, I decided to shake out my coloring skills. Ever since I was knee high to a grasshopper, I’ve hated coloring. Coloring books? Yuck. Coloring my own pictures? They look fine in black and white! Some of my best pieces as a traditional-medium artist are only in ink and pen or charcoal or graphite. So what do I think of this whole “coloring in photoshop” nonsense?

I love it.

Did I use “proper coloring techniques?” Probably not at all, if we’re being honest. For this one, all I did was scrub through different colors on the palette, make a few new layers, put them behind my original drawing, and go to town. It was super simple. It was super fun.

This post is more of an open question to all of you before I default to Google: how should I be attacking this beast? Is my technique okay? I noticed I couldn’t color in that one little section on my neck and it drove me crazy.
